You don't have to drink eight glasses of water everyday...??

A recent study determined that 'drink EIGHT glasses of water a day' is more urban myth than science-backed.

“No one knows where it originated, but it isn’t true. The average person does not need to consume this or any set amount of water. In fact most of suck down more than enough liquid via coffee, sodas as well as food sources like fruit and grains. “Eight glasses of water on top of this is overkill. The best water advice is to grab a drink whenever you feel thirsty. Thirst is a sign that your body needs fluid, not that you are already dehydrated.” explains Steven G. Aldana, PHD, professor of health and human performance at Brigham University in Utah

"I will run again in 2011" Pastor Chris Okotie

"It was a divine call to duty to salvage our beloved country from the in-ept, corrupt and purposeless leadership of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Without any doubt, I remain fully persuaded that only the emergence of a credible, visionary and progressive government can usher in a new Nigeria of our dream. And I am confident that I represent this ideal and with my fresh agenda, we can create a new nation which will take its rightful place in the comity of nations.” - Rev. 'Greek player swore at me' - Sani Kaita

"The guy (the Greece player) hit the ball on my body (stomach) and abused me, saying some very unprintable things. That really got me very angry. That is why I reacted like that to him. But that was a big mistake by me and I will remember for a long time. I cannot stop apologizing to all Nigerians for making this costly mistake. I am very sorry and I pray that we win our next game (against South Korea) to qualify for the next round, where I hope to redeem my image with a good performance if I'm picked. I couldn't sleep all night thinking about what my action has cost my country, but I hope that Insa Allah (by the grace of God) we will win our next game and thereafter I promise to put my life down on the pitch to ensure we go very far in this competition." Kaita told MTNFootball.com

Condom with 'Teeth' Designed to Catch Rapists

A female condom with jagged “teeth” that grips a man’s penis is the latest device developed to catch rapists in South Africa, CNN reported Sunday.

South African Dr. Sonnet Ehlers is distributing the condom — called Rape-aXe — for free during the World Cup, in a country with one of the worst rape rates in the world.

The condom is inserted by women like a tampon and its jagged teeth-like hooks inside attach to a man’s penis during intercourse. Once it grabs hold, only a doctor can remove it. Ehlers hoped this will help authorities to catch offenders.
***

A condom that grips the penis? I'm laughing so hard I have tears in my eyes...lmao. This doctor has yawered o! But I love, love, love, love the idea...my only problem with this is, if a rapist is stuck inside of a woman and can't remove himself, he will probably beat the shit out of the woman before the police arrive. BTW, who will call the police? They're both stuck for goodness sake...Lmao..
Still love the idea sha

“It hurts, he cannot pee and walk when it’s on,” Ehlers said.
“If he tries to remove it, it will clasp even tighter… however, it doesn’t break the skin, and there’s no danger of fluid exposure.”
During the World Cup she plans to distribute 30,000 of the free devices. After the trial period they will be sold for $2 each.
“The ideal situation would be for a woman to wear this when she’s going out on some kind of blind date … or to an area she’s not comfortable with,” Ehlers said.
Critics suggest the condom puts women at risk of further violence from men trapped by the device and reminded women of their vulnerability.
Others accuse her of inventing a medieval device.
“Yes, my device may be a medieval, but it’s for a medieval deed that has been around for decades,” Ehlers said. “I believe something’s got to be done… and this will make some men rethink before they assault a woman.***

Nigeria's lawmakers are the highest paid in Nigeria

Did you know that the National Assembly members are probably the highest paid lawmakers in the world?

Here's proof.
1. Senate President - David Mark, gets an unbudgeted N250million every four months. This is in addition to his N45, 581 million annual salary.
2. Deputy Sen. Pres. - Ike Ekweremadu, pockets N15million every four months. This is in addition to his N41, 795million annual salary.
3. Other principal officers of the senate like - Majority/minority leaders and their deputies, Chief whip etc collect the sum of N78million every four months.
4. The remaining senators get N45million aside N35, 158 annual salaries.

These facts came to light recently when some Senators who feel short changed by the leadership of the Senate cried out that their quarterly unbudgeted  allowance of N45million should be increased to N95million.

SMH! These thieves people forget that after all said and done, when we leave this earth, we leave with nothing, absolutely NOTHING! Whatever you can't take with you when you die is not worth dying for. We should think more of the legacy we leave behind. I guess this is what they want us to remember them for.
Sad!
God is such a merciful God.

"My World Cup experience" Femi Kuti

"They called me to come and play, I said I was not going because I didn't know what I would be doing at a football event. I wanted to sit at home and watch football and the opening ceremony. I didn't want to participate but they kept insisting. And I said, what song would I be playing? They said bang bang bang. I said that's over 12yrs, but fortunately the song is still very popular in Africa and the world. I did not know I was still popular in South Africa until I got to the stadium.  Words alone cannot describe how I felt; all the emotions. We had about 90, 000 people in the stadium, we had at least a billion people watching all over the world, that's the biggest crowd and audience anybody can play for. To just be on stage for two minutes and it was successful, which connotes the positive side of not just Nigeria, but Africa." Femi Kuti speaks with

Oyindamola Akinkugbe opens African Kitchen in Lagos

The popular African Kitchen in Washington Dc, Zion Kitchen, has opened a branch in Lagos.

US based Oyindamola Akinkugbe is the brain behind the African Foods Outlet, patronized mostly by Nigerians who live in the US.

The Lagos outlet is situated at 66, Adeniyi Jones, Ikeja, Lagos.

In focus: Super Eagles Sani Kaita

Did you all see what this fool guy did in our match with Greece? He more or less cost us this match.

He got a red card for violently kicking out at Vasilas Torosidis in the 33rd minute and it's by far one of the silliest fouls/tackles I've ever seen in my life. Totally uncalled for and such behaviour should not be tolerated.

This is what he did...

With Nigeria up 1-0 after an early goal, Kaita and Torosidis came together in an awkward clash as they both chased down a wayward ball and Torosidis collected it for a throw in. Torosidis made like he was going to shove the ball at Kaita, who almost reflexively kicked out at the Greek defender, grazing his leg with his foot. Well, Torosidis made the most of it and went to the ground with dramatic flair to be sure the referee saw what happened. He did and Kaita was sent off.

Have a look at the nonsense he did here

Hiss!

All hail Vincent Enyeama

Please all hail our national goal keeper, Vincent Enyeama. How many 'goals' did he stop today? We would have been so embarrassed if not for him.

Meanwhile I hear Spanish giants Espanyol have joined the chase for him. That is after West Ham's Avram Grant showed interest.

A reliable source was quoted by the UK Sun as saying: "Enyeama was absolutely superb against Argentina and he'd be a brilliant buy. "So Avram Grant is using his Israeli connections to clinch a deal as soon as the World Cup ends."

Amen for him. He deserves it!

Nigerian Squad A Disgrace — Jay-Jay Okocha

"All of us back home in Nigeria knew that this group of playerswould not get anywhere from the start. Their preparations were nothing to write home about while the Swede manager was brought into the fold too late. The performance of the Eagles in South Africa is disgraceful and not acceptable. I feel very sad that the majority of Nigerians are here watching the Eagles in this terrible condition,” Jay Jay Okocha

Church Shells Out N17m To Rent Hall

House On The Rock Church in Lagos State, South West Nigeria, has shelled out N17 million to rent a hall for a two-day service. The hall was rented at the luxurious Eko Hotel & Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos. The newly completed multi-media hall, called Eko Expo Centre, is rented at N8.5 million a day. The money, P.M.NEWS learnt, was used as payment for yesterday and next Sunday’s service at the hall.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The founder and Senior pastor of the church, Paul Adefarasin, who preached yesterday at the Eko Expo Centre, told the elated congregation that the idea was to bring all the members of House On The Rock to a combined church service.

For many years, the church has been renting two separate halls for three services at the Muson Centre in Onikan, Lagos, for their activities on Wednesdays and Sundays. Our correspondent learnt that the move to conduct two services at Eko Hotel & Suites is a marketing strategy meant to motivate reluctant donors to contribute swiftly to the completion of the Millennium Temple, the multi-billion naira structure Adefarasin is building in Lekki area of the state.

P.M.NEWS gathered that members have not been forthcoming in recent months to donate for the completion of the church. The air conditioning at the Millennium Temple alone, Adefarasin disclosed, will cost the church N410 million and will be purchased in China.

“Are you not happy to be in this lovely auditorium? Are you not happy to see people who come for third service while you come for first service? It is countdown to Millennium Temple,” Adefarasin’s wife, Ifeanyi told the congregation. Adefarasin told his congregation that God can change their lives in 24 hours. He disclosed that eighty percent of material used in building the Millennium Temple comes from China while the rest comes from Europe.

The pastor also revealed to his church members that he was invited by the Presidency to pray for the Nigerian President, adding that the Presidency is too expensive. “What I really want to tell them is that the Presidency is too expensive,” he said. He said that one politician at the Presidency is allowed to possess many SUVs and called on Nigerians to stand up and fight for their rights.

Lisa Snowdon can't find a man

Lisa Snowdon, 39, is bright and bubbly and has a successful career - as well as the sort of beauty that once lured in George Clooney. Yet Lisa Snowdon can't find a man.

"I'm single. I haven't had a boyfriend for five years. It's me. It's my problem. Now I'm thinking not when it's going to happen, but if it's ever going to happen at all. It's scary to imagine that maybe there'll be no husband, no baby, no wedding - and that's it. This is the point where you should be looking for older men - but the truth is, older men want younger girls. Most of my mates are married or settled down and they only know married couples. Where can I go to meet a guy? Yes, I go to parties, but you don't really meet people there. So this might be it. I may never meet someone, never have kids. I'm a happy person. I love my family, I love my job and maybe I just have to be at peace with that. Perhaps that's my fate, who knows.' she says in an interview for an upcoming edition of SHE magazine.***

I'm 29 and I haven't had a boyfriend for three years. Any advice for women like me and Lisa?

Opening ceremony of the 2010 World Cup

Did you guys watch the opening ceremony of 2010 World Cup that took place some hours ago in SA?
Our Femi Kuti performed...yeeeeh!
And Archbishop Desmond Tutu danced...high point for me...:-).
And R Kelly gave a resounding performance.
If you watched it, what do you think of it?
Was it spectacular or was it spectacular?
Go Africa!!!
So proud to be African right now!!!
Ahooooo!!!

The naked ladies at the 2010 World cup

A common sight at the South Africa/FIFA 2010 World cup are naked South African babes cheering different teams (so far in the friendly matches).

The ladies have absolutely no problem showing off their bodies as they dance, but some people are finding the whole situation quite uncomfortable. Some coaches think it's a distraction for some of the players.

But many of the ladies who spoke to international journalists say whatever they do is ‘for the good of the game’ and an honour for their nation.

Dancing naked is part of their traditional Zulu Dance, right? But shouldn't they tone it down a bit? Billions of people will be watching the world cup; some people might find this display very offensive.
But then again, it's happening in South Africa, what better opportunity to promote their breastises culture?

Taliban executes boy, 7, accused of spying as suicide bomber kills 40 children at wedding

Taliban Militants have executed a seven year-old boy they accused of being a spy, it emerged today Friday June 11th.

More when you continue
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The child was abducted from his home and taken to a neighbouring village where he was put on trial.
His captors found him guilty of working for the government.

The child was then hanged in public in the village of Heratiyan, in the southern Sangin district of Helmand province.
Afghanistan's president Hamid Karzai condemned the act as a 'crime against humanity' if proved and said officials were investigating.

'I don't think there's a crime bigger than that that even the most inhuman forces on earth can commit,' he said.
'A seven-year-old boy cannot be a spy. A seven-year-old boy cannot be anything but a seven-year-old boy, and therefore hanging or shooting to kill a seven-year-old boy... is a crime against humanity.'

The execution came as 40 people - mainly children and teenagers - were killed when a suicide bomber targeted a wedding.
Another 77 were injured after the blast ripped through the party in Kandahar.

The bombing happened at around 9pm yesterday in a housing compound where men had gathered during the festivities.
Witnesses said the family that was attacked included a number of Afghan police officers.
The groom's brother and two of his cousins were in the police force, according to another cousin, Mohammad Alkozay.

Rare photo of slave children found

A haunting 150-year-old photo found in a North Carolina attic shows a young black child named John, barefoot and wearing ragged clothes, perched on a barrel next to another unidentified young boy. Art historians believe it's an extremely rare Civil War-era photograph of children who were either slaves at the time or recently emancipated. In April, the photo was found at a moving sale in Charlotte, accompanied by a document detailing the sale of John for $1,150, not a small sum in 1854. New York collector Keya Morgan said he paid $30,000 for the photo album including the photo of the young boys and several family pictures and $20,000 for the sale document. Morgan said the deceased owner of the home where the photo was found was thought to be a descendant of John. What makes the picture an even more compelling find is that several art experts said it was created by the photography studio of Mathew Brady, a famous 19th-century photographer known for his portraits of historical figures such as President Abraham Lincoln. World's Got Talent coming soon?

Simon Cowell is reportedly planning to create a World's Got Talent reality competition show, which would feature acts from over 80 countries with the winner getting 1 million pounds.

A source says, "This has been Simon's dream. It will be the biggest reality show the world's seen. There is a huge wealth of talent out there. The best acts cross language barriers."

Hope Nigeria is among the 80 countries.

But a World's Got Talent competition? Well, if anyone can pull it off, it's Simon.
Still too ambitious though...

"No regrets marrying 13yr old girl" Yerima

"About three years ago, I married out two of my daughters. One was 16 and the other was 17. And in December this year God willing, I will give out another of my 16-year-old daughter in marriage again. And nobody on earth can stop that marriage by the grace of God. Her name is Hafsat, she is currently a student in Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria. The potential husband is in the university in Cairo. As soon as it is December, the marriage will take place. I have not broken any law and all I have done is guided by Islamic injunctions which are fully recognized by the Nigerian Constitution. I give out my daughters in marriage when they get husband. For example, if my fourth daughter, who is 14 now, gets a husband, I will gladly offer her to him. You see, nobody can dictate to me how I run my family or how I give my daughters out in marriage. People should mind their business." Paedophile Yerima tells Thisday Newspapers.

Olu and Wendy

Yahoozee crooner, Olumide Adegbulu, popularly known as Olu Maintain is set to wed his gorgeous girlfriend, London based Wendy Ajakaiye. The wedding, which will take place in London and Nigeria, is scheduled for the last quarter of the year.

"It is true, I am getting married very soon. Her name is Wendy and I met her in Los Angeles last year when I was out there recording. She was on holiday from the UK and coincidentally lodged in the same hotel on the same floor. Her room was almost directly opposite mine. Instant telepathy ensued once I set my eyes on her. I knew she is the girl for me. She's very beautiful, extremely intelligent, very career driven, tolerant, kind and very understanding."

Concerned parents in Nigeria have called on the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Association of
Movie Producers (AMP) and other stake holders in the film industry, to call popular actors, Chinedu Ikedieze and Osita Iheme aka Aki and Pawpaw, to order.

The concerned parents want the actors to play consistent roles in movies. They either take the role of kids or that of adults. The parents said that since they
started as kids in their first movie, a lot of kids at home see them as peers and as a result, imitate most of the things they do in movies. But now the actors take romantic roles and other adult roles that children shouldn't emulate, and the inconsistency is a threat to children who don't want to believe that they are adults. They even did sweet advertisements meant for children.

Sometime last year, the Actor's Guild of Nigeria Board of Trustees headed by Prince Ifeanyi Dike, made a move to ban the actors from taking adult roles, but they were later pardoned when their fans pleaded with the board.
